The City of Morristown’s public works operator is now also the city’s administrator.
Ellen Judd, who previously held the position of public works operator for the city, was approved as the “City Administrator/Public Works Director” at the city council’s August 1 meeting.
Judd studied Water Environmental Technologies at St. Cloud Technical and Community College and was a member of the City of Faribault’s Public Works team for five years. She also holds a certificate in Public Works Management from the University of Minnesota.

Charles William Smith, age 78 of Waterville, passed away at his home on Thursday, August 4, 2022.

A man from Rice County died in an ATV rollover on August 6.
Marvin George David, 79, was pronounced deceased at 11876 140th St, in Montgomery when rescue officials found him trapped under an ATV.
According to Rice County Sheriff Jesse Thomas, deputies, Lonsdale Fire and Rescue, and Montgomery Ambulance were dispatched to the scene at 5:53 p.m. on a report of a possible deceased person trapped under the ATV.  
“The ATV/victim was located by the landowner's friend. When responding units arrived, the male was confirmed deceased,” Thomas said.

Wayne Frederick Braun, age 84 of Le Center died on August 6, 2022, at the Ridgeview Le Sueur Nursing and Rehab Center in Le Sueur. Visitation will be held on Friday, August 12 from 9 am to 11 am at the Le Center Funeral Home in Le Center. A funeral service will follow at 11 am also at the funeral home.
Interment will be held in Dresselville Cemetery in rural Le Sueur. Military Honors will be provided by the Le Center area Honor Guard. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred.

If you didn’t have a chance to catch the Fox 9 Town Ball Tour presentation Wednesday, July 20 in Waterville you really missed out.
Whether it be attending the festivities in person or watching the telecast throughout the evening, the final Town Ball Tour of the year for Channel 9 was one which highlighted not only the Waterville Indians amateur baseball team., but the long standing history of the team, its field, and its players.
This is what the Town Ball Tour has done for the past couple of years and it was Waterville’s night to shine, and shine they did.

The Waterville Indians will make another trip to the Region 6C Amateur Baseball Tourney. Morristown will need to win one more game to advance.
These two teams met Sunday, July 24 in Waterville in the 13-60 League Semifinals, with the Indians picking up an 11-4 victory.
Waterville, ranked No. 5 in the latest Class C State Poll, will now host Wells Sunday, July 31 for the 13-60 League Tournament Championship and the No. 2 Seed in the Region 6C Tourney, which starts Saturday, August 6 in Waterville. Game time has not yet been determined.

We officially have a teenager. Our elder daughter, Anna, recently turned 13. Being the smart young lady she is, she strategically planned her friend party—a sleepover campout in our backyard—during the week her little sister, Ellen, was at camp. It was the first of my kids’ birthday celebrations I didn’t plan. Anna took the reins of the party. She contacted her friends, made sure the campout date worked for everyone, and planned the entire shindig.

The David Domonoske family of Waterville has been named Le Sueur County’s “2022 Farm Family of the Year” by the University of Minnesota.

The American Cancer Society hosted its annual Le Sueur County Relay for Life event, which is a celebration for cancer survivors as well as those who died from the disease. Honorary Survivor Julie Harmon and her family made the Survivor's and Caregivers Lap at the start of the Relay in Le Center.

Two Waterville Indian pitchers limited Blue Earth to two runs in a 6-2 win for the Indians in 13-60 League action Wednesday, June 29 at Blue Earth.
The victory, the 12th in the past 13 games, all but secures the 13-60 League title for the Indians, who have not lost in League play in 12 games. Minnesota Lake, the team closest to them in the standings, is 10-1 and the Indians defeated the Royals last week.

It’s the quietest week of the year—at least, at my house.
Our 10-year-old Ellen is off having the time of her life at summer camp.
She looks forward to the week-long adventure all year.
Not 10 minutes after I picked her up from Camp Omega last year, she spouted: “Mom, it’s the BEST place ever. I wish I could go for a month!”

Two issues were brought forth to the WEM Board of Education Monday, June 27 by district residents concerning possible changes in the 5th and 6th grade physical education schedule and the student dress code.
The physical education change which has been discussed in changing the five day, 25 minute phy ed classes to two 50 minute classes during the week. This would allow for students to also have a 50 minute Art, Music, and Media class once a week.
