William Mathew "Nick" Nickolay, age 84 of St. Paul, MN, passed away peacefully on May 10, 2023. Survived by wife and caretaker extraordinaire JoAnn (née Halloran) of nearly 58 years; children, Carter Nickolay (Karen), Janell Nickolay (Shane), and Gwen Nickolay Traynor; grandchildren, Kara, Matthew (Kara), Brigid, and Ronan; siblings Lucille, Francis, George, and Ruth; numerous nieces, nephews, neighbors and friends. Predeceased by parents, John F. and Bessie Nickolay, and siblings John, Charles, Rita, Donald, and Richard.
Runners from New Prague and the area were well represented at Grandma’s Marathon and the Gary Bjorklund Half-Marathon earlier this month.
New Prague’s Garren Hamby, 43, finished the Grandma’s Marathon between Two Harbors and Duluth in 3 Hours, 20 minutes, 43 seconds. He finished 1,308 of 6,689 marathon runners.

Pounding out 15 hits, Union Hill thumped Shakopee, 12-1, Sunday, June 18, at Joe Schleper Stadium.
The Bulldogs blew the game open in the third inning after Nate Lee and Adam Giesen scored in the second inning and Eric Berg crossed the plate, upping the lead to 3-0 in the fourth. Union Hill added two more runs when Adam Giesen and Jack Giesen both scored to give the Bulldogs a 5-0 lead after five innings.

New Prague High School Principal Nicole Adams submitted her resignation to the school district June 7, board chairman Matt Goldade confirmed today, Sunday, June 18.
The school board has been informed of Adams' resignation, but has yet to formally announce or accept it. The New Prague Times has reached out to Adams for comment.
The first round of interviews for the new high school principal will begin this week, Goldade said.
