Anna L. E. (Preuss) Wegner, age 97, of Morristown, died on Saturday, April 29, 2023, at Mayo Health System, Mankato.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, May 3, 2023, at 10:30 a.m. at Trinity Lutheran Church, North Morristown, with the Rev. Juan Palm, officiating. Interment will be at Concordia Cemetery, North Morristown.
Visitation will be at the Boldt Funeral Home, Faribault, on Tuesday, May 2, 2023, from 4 to 7 p.m. and also at the church on Wednesday for one hour prior to the service.
Anna (Ann) Leona Edna (Preuss) Wegner, the daughter of Herman and Anna (Gerhke) Preuss was born on July 22, 1925, at St. Lucas Hospital in Faribault, MN. She was baptized on August 9, 1925, and confirmed on April 2, 1939, at St. Peter’s Evangelical Lutheran (Bell) Church north of Elysian, MN. She grew up on a farm at the west end of Lake Tetonka in Waterville, MN (Le Sueur County) and attended Bell Lutheran School.
Ann met Don at a dance at the IOOF Hall in Waterville. They dated a couple years and she married Donald L. Wegner on April 25, 1944, at St. Peter’s Lutheran Church. Ann and Don farmed until 1979 in North Morristown area, and then moved next to Morristown for the next 40 years. During her life, she was Nursing Assistant at District #1 Hospital and later worked at Coast to Coast and Farmer Seed & Nursery in Faribault, MN. She also had been a member of The American Legion Auxiliary, Post 149 in Morristown. Ann and Don were the Grand Marshals of the North Morristown 4th of July Parade, where they spent each year participating at this community event.
Ann was an active member of Trinity Lutheran Church, North Morristown, in Ladies Aid, singing in the choir and attending Bible Studies, and children’s chapel on Wednesdays. She loved gardening, especially her flower gardens, sewing, cooking, crocheting, reading, fishing, and loved to view the fall colors. She had a love for birds and animals. She was an avid Twins Fan, watching the whole game whether they won or lost. She completed her GED on the year she turned 70 years old. She loved being with family, especially surrounded by her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Ann was also an advocate for Prolife for 50 years!
She is survived by four children, Jerry (and Kay) Wegner of Lakeville, LaVonne (and Jerry) Tylee of Harris, Darrel (and Barb) Wegner of Burnsville, and Sharon (and Wayne) Skoblik of Chanhassen; ten grandchildren, Brian, Joel (and Christie) and Danny (and Heather) Wegner, Matthew (and Jennifer) and Michael (and Jennifer) Heyer, Nathan Wegner, Megan (and Matthew) Kelly, Andrew Wegner (and Breezy), and Madeline and Hannah Skoblik; 12 great-grandchildren, Ryan, Brandon, Henry and Finley Heyer, Emma, Noah, Ava, Olivia Kelly, Logan, Luke and Judah Wegner and a great-granddaughter Wegner expected in June; one sister-in-law Darlene Spitzack of Waterville; many nieces, nephews and other relatives.
She was preceded in death by her husband Donald Wegner (Nov. 2, 2010), her parents Herman and Anna (Gehrke) Preuss; four brothers, Walter (and Anna), Hugo (and Cora), Arthur “Art” (and Erna) and Henry “Hank” (and Gertrude); four sisters, Minnie (and William) Sorgatz, Lydia (E.P.) Glende, Ida (and Walter) Pommeranz, Adeline (and Avolt) Deno; as well as brothers- and sisters-in-law, Theodore “Teddy” (and Janice) Wegner, Delbert (and Margie) Wegner, and Harlan Spitzack.
