The Le Sueur County Board held a very short meeting Tuesday, May 25.
Among the items on the agenda was the recognition of three long-time employees, who are retiring at the end of the month.
Public Health Director Cindy Shaughnessy (40 + years), Chief Deputy Auditor-Treasurer Connie Kopet (39 years), and County Auditor-Treasurer Pam Simonette (36 years) received retirement plaques.
In other business:
• The county approved a spraying agreement with Evergreen Companies to spray and mow county ditches and judicial ditches located within Le Sueur County with chemical herbicides.
The total cost of the work is not to exceed $170,000. Cost for mowing and spraying is $155 per hour and mobilization at $2,100.
Nik Kadel, Ditch Specialist, will direct the applicator as to which drainage ditches are to be sprayed, what part of ditch to spray, and when the spraying should be done.
The ditches listed in the agreement include Joint Ditch (JD) 38, County Ditch (CD) 9, CD36, CD59, CD68, CD17, CD64, CD4, CD50, CD51, CD15, and JD 5.
• Ten Conditional Use Permits were approved. They include a variety of different projects through the county. The request for action are as follows:
- A permit was granted to Jeff and Barbara Louks of Claremont to allow grading, excavating, and filling of 21 cubic yards in the shore impact zone, 24 cubic yards in the bluff impact zone, 13 cubic yards in the bluff, total 56 cubic yards on a lot in Elysian Township.
