Tractors, new and antique functioning motors of all shapes and sizes aren't the only things happening at Pioneer Power. The show is also hosting historical construction equipment, antique trucks and food. The 45th annual show is also featuring music throughout the weekend, including that of the James Busta Band. There is also a Parade of Equipment, tractor pull, and an ecumenical church service. The parade of equipment is Saturday and Sunday from 12:30 to 2 p.m. each day. See more in the print edition. More baseball on tap this weekend... The State Amateur Baseball Tournament continues this weekend with 10 games each scheduled in New Prague and Shakopee and two others set for Jordan.

The for sale sign still stands outside the Le Sueur City Museum, but according to legal records, the historic property has been sold.
Le Sueur County Historical Society (LCHS) sold the property in January.
The land and buildings at 709 2nd Street North in Le Sueur, which is the location of the Le Sueur City Museum, are now owned by dairy cooperative Agropur Inc., according to an online property search.
A warranty deed filed with Le Sueur County in January 2018, indicates that the sale of the property occurred on January 17.

New Prague, New London- Spicer, St. Patrick, Fort Ripley, Raymond, Luxemburg, Sleepy Eye and Buckman were winners at New Prague’s Memorial Park Stadium during the first week of the Minnesota Amateur Baseball Tournament. All games were in the Class C portion of the tournament.
Eight other games were played at two sites each - Shakopee, which also hosted Class C games, and Jordan, which hosted the first round of the Class B tournament.

Donald J Budin, age 83, of Le Center, passed away on Saturday, Aug. 18, 2018. Visitation will be held on Thursday, Aug. 23, 2018, at Le Center Funeral Home from 4 to 8 p.m. with a KC service at 7:30 p.m. 
 
Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service on Friday at the church. Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, Aug. 24 at 10 a.m. at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Le Center. Interment will be at Calvary Catholic Cemetery, Le Center. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to the Alzheimer Association.
 

A way to keep programs moving forward in Montgomery and an avenue for people to pay it forward or leave a legacy to the community became official last Wednesday.
 
A board of six residents signed papers to create the Community Foundation in Montgomery whose goal is to keep Montgomery vital and bring opportunities to town by granting money to programs and individual projects. 
 
It also provides a way for people to donate or bequeath parts of an estate directly to Montgomery’s future and programs.
 

The first weekend of play at the 2018 Minnesota Amateur Baseball Tournament was a big hit. More than 2,200 people paid to see eight games over three days at New Prague's Memorial Park Baseball Stadium, including 640 for Friday’s tourney opener, a 7-2 New Prague win over Ortonville. Games were also played in Shakopee and Jordan. Members of the 1973 New Prague High School team were honored before the noon game on Saturday.

Derrick Isaacson's two-run single in the top of the ninth inning gave St. Patrick a 4-3 win over Lamberton in the first round of the State Class C Baseball tournament in New Prague Saturday, Oct. 18. 

Up to that point it had been a frustrating game for the Irish, who had given up one run on an error in the fourth inning, had a would-be home run called foul and had a runner picked off second base earlier in the game. 

Muskies earn 1st round bye; Faribault, New Prague and St. Patrick play this weekend
New Market used the long ball to claim the Region 3C championship Friday, Aug. 10, with an 8-1 win over Faribault at Veseli.
Earlier in the week, Faribault defeated New Prague on a bases-loaded walk to earn their way to the championship game. Faribault enters the State playoffs as the No. 2 seed from Region 3C, New Prague is the No. 3 seed and St. Patrick is the No. 4 seed.

Glendon Peter Flicek, 94, of Montgomery, died on Wednesday, Aug. 15, 2018, at Mala Strana Health Care in New Prague. 
 

His childhood memories dance to the beat of a base broom, a simple instrument, comprised of a broom and a wooden box. 
 
For musician George Korbel of Kilkenny, the unique instrument is pure enjoyment. 
 
“Some people call it the poor man’s tuba because it sounds similar to a tuba. Some people make fun of it. Some people ignore it. I don't know… I have fun doing it,” stated Korbel, who also plays the concertina. “My family has played it forever.” 
 
Korbel credits his uncle, Ed Honza, with introducing him to the instrument. 
 

In the primary race for Le Sueur County Commissioner District 2, Maureen Franek of Montgomery and Danny O’Keefe of Le Center will most likely be on the November ballot.
 
The District, which includes Montgomery City, Montgomery Township, Sharon Township, Lexington Township, and Ottawa Township, is being held by Joe Connolly, who did not file.
 
Franek won her spot, garnering the most votes with 253 cast or 27.47 percent of the votes.
 

Construction at Tri-City United Elementary School received the green light Monday when the TCU School Board approved the bid package for the school’s campus.
 
The plans for the building call for eight new classrooms and restrooms located on the northeast portion of the building, north of the parking lot. Starting with the 2019-2020 school year, that building will become Pre-kindergarten to sixth grade campus, thereby freeing up space in Montgomery’s Middle and Elementary School buildings. 
 

A Le Sueur County man faces charges after a standoff Saturday, Aug. 11 in Tyrone Township. 
 
Bryant Holder, 32, is in custody in Le Sueur County Jail on charges of domestic assault, terroristic threats and assault in the second degree with a dangerous weapon, all felony charges.
 

Garry LeRoy Quance, 78, of Montgomery, died on Sunday, Aug. 12, 2018, at his home. Visitation will be held on Sunday, Aug. 19, 2018, from 3 to 6 p.m. at Schoenbauer Funeral Home in Montgomery. Memorial service will follow at 6 p.m. also at the funeral home.
 
Garry was born on September 16, 1939, in Staples, MN to Glen and Edith (Klos) Quance. Garry was a Staples High School graduate of the Class of 1957. 
 

The New Prague Orioles, hosts for the State Amateur Baseball Tournament, will play in the tourney opener at 7:30 pm. Friday, Aug. 17. New Prague faces Ortonville to open the tournament. Another local team, St. Patrick, will play at 7:30 p.m. Saturday in New Prague. They will face Lamberton. 
Class C games will be held Friday, Saturday and Sunday, Aug. 17, 18 and 19, at New Prague and Shakopee. Class B games will be held Saturday and Sunday in Jordan.
