James E. Malinski, 91

James E. Malinski, age 91, of New Prague, died peacefully on Friday, April 6,  2018,  at Mala Strana Rehabilitation Center.  Jim was born on October 9, 1926 in Lexington Township, Le Sueur County to Albert and Mary (O’Connell) Malinski. He grew up in the Lexington area, attending Le Sueur County District School and Cleveland High School.  He was drafted into the US Army while a senior in high school and served from 1945-46.  After service, he graduated with a BS degree from the College of St. Thomas.  He worked for 38 years for Northwest Airlines in the Maintenance and Engineering Department, retiring in 1988.  Jim was a member of the Knights of Columbus, the VFW, and the American Legion.  He was active at St. Wenceslaus as a Eucharistic Minister, was a member of the University of St. Thomas Alumni Association and the Minnesota Triumph Sports Car Club.  Jim had an interest in the farm with his brother, Joe, in Helena Township and more recently was involved with Pioneer Power. His love of travel took him to Europe, Hawaii, and the Orient.

Jim is survived by his sisters, Rita Deyo of Minneapolis and Alyce Ilg of New Prague; sister-in-law, Rennie Malinski; 15 nephews; 10 nieces; grand-nieces and –nephews.  He is preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Joseph and Harold; sister, Mary Ann Mayer; nephew, Philip Ilg.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held Friday, April 13, 2018 at 10 AM at St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church with Father Kevin Clinton officiating.  Visitation will be held on Thursday from 4-8 PM and Friday morning from 7:30 – 9:30 at Bruzek Funeral Home.  Lunch will follow Mass at the Legion Club in New Prague and burial will take place at Calvary Cemetery in Le Center after lunch. bruzekfuneralhome.com
