New Prague woman fatally injured in Hwy 13 crash

A New Prague woman lost her life in a two-vehicle crash on Highway 13, north of Waterville, on Wednesday afternoon, November 15.

According to the Minnesota State Patrol incident report, Jessica Karasch, 32, of New Prague was traveling southbound on Highway 13 and attempted to make a u-turn when her 2001 Ford Taurus was struck by a southbound 1994 Freightliner Tractor driven by Jonathon Bonar, 50, of Waldorf.

Karasch, who was not wearing a seat belt at the time of the crash, was pronounced dead at the scene.

Bonar was transported to Owatonna Hospital with non-life threatening injuries. Bonar was wearing a seat belt at the time of the accident.

The accident occurred at approximately 12:30 p.m. Le Sueur County Sheriff, Waterville Police, and North Memorial Ambulance responded.

Alcohol is not believed to be a factor in the incident.

Authorities closed a section of Highway 13 in both directions until the crash investigation was completed. Traffic was rerouted for more than three hours.
