For new business owner, a ‘dream come true’

New Prague Floral and Such is the new name for a longtime business in downtown New Prague.

Janeil Dropik is the new owner of the business, located at 112 Main St. W. She purchased the business in October from longtime owners Pam Chlan and Kathy Lapic, who owned the business for 23 years.

Janeil, who lives in New Prague with husband Tom and their children, is no stranger to the floral business. She studied retail floral at what was then North Hennepin Tech after graduating from high school and she worked at several shops in the Metro area before moving on the business world. She also helped her parents, Jim and the late Maxine Shambour, with a homebased business, Hilltop Flowers, when she was growing up. Her brother Duane still had the sign from the business and brought it to her when she purchased the shop.

She said this is her first experience in owning her own business.

"It’s great, I love it," she said. "This is where I’m meant to be."
