Jordan defeats girls basketball in Sub Sections

In basketball, every second and point count, and the girls’ basketball team could have used extra of them when they were defeated by Jordan 49-51 in Montgomery on Tuesday in the quarter finals of the Section 2AA North Sub-Section Tournament.

Twice before this season, TCU defeated the Jaguars - January 16 (61-41) and February 16, (60-49).

This time, Jordan was ready.

At the start of the game, the Titans had trouble sinking baskets, which the Jaguars capitalized on, creating their lead. Titan Kelley Oak started scoring with a free throw and a two-point shot, however the scoring stalled midway through the first period.

The Titans went into the half trailing 21-28.

TCU fought hard to tie the game at 49 points with 11 seconds remaining. A hook shot by Jordan’s Sidney Bendzick put that team ahead by two. With five seconds remaining and TCU in control, Cami Vargo brought the ball in. Gabby Robinson passed to Caitlin Jindra, who missed the basket at the buzzer’s sound.

Jordan faces Norwood Young America in Prior Lake on Friday.
