Gary Herreld is EMT of the Year

It's a job that would leave most people stressed and flustered.

Whether it's for a car crash, a heart attack or a fall, Gary Herreld of the Montgomery Ambulance Service is called in at some of the worst moments of people's lives.

But Herreld is always courteous toward patients and their families. He works hard, and ambulance members have noticed that. At their December meeting, they voted for the Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) of the Year. Neil Vlasak, EMS Director, after members nominated their peer, the executive board then looked at the results and agreed that Herreld deserved the award. It was presented at the ambulance’s annual banquet in January.

Vlasak described Herald’s performance as a volunteer EMT as solid.

“He takes a lot of pager hours consistently each month for the service. With all the difficulties we as members work through to cover shifts each and every day and night of the year, it makes me very happy to see that his commitment toward doing the most he can to keep us running does not go unnoticed,” Vlasak said.
