Dean Winters, 69

Dean Winters, age 69, of New Prague, died unexpectedly in Custer, South Dakota while camping.

Dean was born October 27, 1947 in Mountain Lake, Minnesota to Leslie R. and Ruby V. (Reimer) Winters. He served in the United States Air Force for 4 years and after military service worked as an owner/operator truck driver and dispatcher.

Besides being an active NRA member Dean enjoyed camping and traveling. He realized his dream vacation of driving to Alaska and the Arctic Circle. He loved participating and helping at truck and tractor pulling events.

Dean is survived by his son, Tony Winters & Kelli Odegard of Green Isle; daughter, Tanya Winters of Mapleton; brother, Dale & Sandy Winters of St. Louis, MO; sister, Pat Winters of California; 5 grandchildren, Ryan, Alex, Teagan, Cody, and Cassidy; and 3 greatgrandchildren, Rilynne, Dom, and Sawyer. He is preceded in death by his parents, and brother, Brian.

A celebration of Life will be held at Bruzek Funeral Home, New Prague, Saturday, October 14 from 11 AM to 2 PM with the New Prague Veterans Honor Guard conducting a memorial poppy service at noon. There will be a time of sharing memories at 1:30 PM to close the service. Burial will take place at Fort Snelling National Cemetery on Monday October 16th.
